Norweian Cruise Lines cancells NCL Star Panama Canal Cruise

Norwegian Cruise Line cancelled the Norwegian Star’s April 12 Panama Canal voyage due to “a technical issue with the ship’s ABB-manufactured Azipod propulsion system.”
Guests booked on the 15-day cruise from Los Angeles will receive a full refund of the cruise fare, as well as a 50 percent future cruise credit.  The ship will be out of service April 12-26 so repairs can be made and is expected to resume service on April 27 from Miami, the company said.“Norwegian Cruise Line sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this itinerary change and would like to thank our guests for their understanding,” the company said.  The Norwegian Star late last month emerged from a two-week dry-dock renovation that included “an Azipod hydrodynamic upgrade” and other technical improvements including state-of-the-art silicone paint on the hull that improves fuel efficiency, thrusters and stabilizer maintenance; and ballast and bilge piping replacement.  The ship also received the first Jimmy Buffett’s Five O’Clock Somewhere Bar, part of the line’s new partnership with Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. Newer ships also will have a Margaritaville restaurant.  For more information on cruising on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship, contact TheCruiseOutlet.com for exclusive rates and amenities at 800-775-1884 or info@thecruiseoutlet.com
