Disney Cruise Line Gets 'Tangled'

One of the most popular ways of traveling in today’s market is on a cruise ship, and the family-friendly Disney Cruise Line is stepping up its game by adding a new stage show based on the movie Tangled in November. According to a press release from Disney Cruise Line, Tangled: The Musical will be the first stage adaptation of the movie based on the classic story of Rapunzel and will take place on the Disney Magic cruise ship.
As if the lavish stage show and the creative adaptation from the big screen to the stage weren’t enough to satisfy fans of the movie, Disney has utilized Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken and Grammy Award-winning lyricist Glenn Slater to compose three new songs exclusively for this production. For fans of the Tangled movie, the plan is for the Disney Magic cruise ship to produce a stage show that stays true to the movie’s storyline. With some of the most well-known characters in the movie making the jump to the stage—including Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Mother Gothel and Maximus—fans of the movie, and even those who have never seen it before, will be treated to a classic fairy tale. As Disney pointed out in the press release, the 977-seat Walt Disney Theatre on the Disney Magic will be transformed into a full immersive set from the movie. With elaborate costumes, backdrops for the play and an all-star creative team and cast, the production could be worthy of the Broadway stage.  The production of Tangled will premiere during the Disney Magic’s four-night Bahamas trip, beginning on Nov. 11.
